After an invigorating day of workshops, live music and overall Women's Fest-ness, come join us at Bamboo Lounge for the official After Fest! BOXStar will be playing all of the songs that you know and love. Get in for only $5 and enjoy music, beer/wine and most importantly a lounge packed with women! This after party is hosted by the San Diego Lesbian Meetup Group.

Become part of living herstory by recording your story in the Oral Herstory Lounge. Do you remember when you ‘first knew’? When you first came out? Do you have unique life experience to share? Tell your story so that OUR collective history as LBT women will be preserved and honored.

Going green is all the rage these days, but navigating the onslaught of eco-friendly products and advice on how to change your lifestyle can be overwhelming. Never fear, Green Grrl is here! This workshop will cover all the basics of how to green your home and office, recycle efficiently, and much more.

Emotional Eating and Mindful Nutrition
Presented by Hilary Stokes Ph.D. and Kim Ward Ph.D.
Healthy eating and nutrition are often the first things to suffer when we are emotional and stressed out. This workshop will focus on emotional eating, subconscious roadblocks, and understanding how the mind-body connection plays a significant role in changing our behaviors around food. Practical tools for transforming unhealthy habits, such as the Four Steps to Mindful Nutrition, will be presented.

More Than Pink and Blue: Navigating the Gender Spectrum

Presented by Erin Burgoon and Andi Segur
What exactly is gender? Is it birth sex? Clothes? Hair? Attitudes? This workshop will tackle the many facets of gender and how we learn to construct our own personal gender identities throughout our lives. Movement, discussion, and group interaction are all part of this dynamic workshop, so come prepared to get involved!

Top 10 LBT Health Issues for 2009
Presented by Suzann Gage, RNC, NP, Lac
This workshop will explore ten of the top health issues for 2009 for the lesbian, bisexual women’s and transgender communities, including: HPV, HIV/STDs, mammograms vs. thermograms, donor insemination, PMS/menstruation, menopause, hormones, depression/anxiety, smoking, and green lifestyle issues. Bring your questions, concerns and experiences to share!

Lunchtime Panel Discussion – “Labels – Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em?”

Join us in the library for a lively discussion about the many hot-button words and labels used to describe our community. We’ve all heard the words “dyke”, “fag”, “queer” and so on; now it’s time to discuss whether reclaiming these words is empowering or harmful. Grab some lunch and add your two cents to the discussion!

Sustainable Urban Agriculture in San Diego County
Presented by Karon Klipple Ph.D., Founder of the Seeds at City Urban Farm
Urban living and agriculture are NOT mutually exclusive! This workshop will empower you to get more involved in the San Diego urban agriculture movement. Learn why you should support local, organic food production, how conventional and sustainable landscaping differ, and what the benefits are of edible landscaping. Also, take a closer look at the City College Urban Farm and the farms it’s inspired.

Community Through Dance: Hip-Hop Workshop

We can’t sit in workshops all day without giving our bodies a chance to really MOVE! This creative movement workshop will cover the basics of hip-hop dance, while exploring themes of mind-body connection and community building. Shake off your stress, become one the beat, and explore your personal creativity with Eveoke! No prior dance experience is required.

Love and Money: Making Them Work Together

Money is one of the top three reasons relationships don’t survive. In today’s economy, in which you have to be a hermit to not be financially worried, money can create an even greater strain in your relationship. Whether partnered or not, this workshop will help you understand why all of our brains are freaking out about money, even if we still have our jobs, and how to get it to calm down. In addition, we will talk about specific strategies and techniques to reduce the relationship strain money can cause.

Progressive Pet Nutrition: Discover what’s in your dog or cat’s bowl!

Think green living is only important for humans? Think again! Proper nutrition is one of the leading ways to extend the life of your pet and most people are unaware of the harmful components in conventional pet foods. This workshop will help you discover new and more nutritional foods, as well as other secrets to an overall healthier lifestyle for your furry companions. Your animals with thank you for attending!

The Big Green “O” (18 and over)
Presented by Lea Caughlan, Owner of The Rubber Rose, and Kulky Nakai, Senior Sex Educator
This workshop will take green living into the bedroom, taking a closer look at “safe sex” from an eco-friendly perspective. Contrary to popular belief, not all products on the adult market are safe, and some can cause harmful and painful side effects. This workshop will teach you what to avoid and what amazing alternatives are available at The Rubber Rose.

Mind-Body-Spirit 101
Presented by Shakti Rising
As women, we often put ourselves last on the list of priorities. This workshop will help shed some light back on your true self. Learn how to best support and nurture yourself and gain skills to build authentic relationships and create a life you love!
