Q Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to increase the visibility of and foster connection within metropolitan Portland’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ) community. The center builds public awareness and support, and celebrates LGBTQ diversity through art, culture, and programming. In 2003, an effort was launched to explore the feasibility of a LGBTQ community center. More than 1600 individuals and 30 organizations weighed in on the question. The end results were clear: Portland needs, wants and can support a LGBTQ Community Center!

Our mission is to create a meeting place for the LGBT Community to grow together, increase public understanding, and celebrate our diversity. Center Components include: Welcome and Referral Center- reception for guests and visitors, service referrals to LGBT organizations and public "classifieds" board. Conference Rooms- rentable space for public and private meetings, workshops, etc. Community Assembly Room- rentable event space for 50-100 person gatherings. CyberCenter- free, drop-in use of computer with internet access. Office Space- 2000sq ft of affordable nonprofit offices for Organizational Members. Library/ResourceRoom- space dedicated to LGBT history, books, periodicals and publicly available computer terminals. Art Gallery- monthly rotating space dedicated to LGBT artists. Training and resources for local LGBT nonprofits.
