GOT STORY?
Everyone has a story to tell. What's yours?
What is a digital story?
Digital stories are brief first person videos created by combining age-old storytelling narrative practice with modern-day technology and digital media. The primary aim of the process is to show people the transformative effects of giving voice to their own challenges, triumphs, opinions, and struggles. Digital Storytellers are encouraged to use their stories, both to start conversations with friends, coworkers and family, and in more formal efforts at community building, education, program documentation, and advocacy.
The Digital Storytelling Process
Essentially, digital storytelling is the combination of voice, music and images compiled in an electronic format to help in the telling of a story.
The process for creating your story involves the following:
1) writing your story
2) recording a first-person narrative of your written story
3) gathering and scanning images to illustrate your story
4) collecting open copyrighted music to use in your story
5) assembling all of your media in Windows Movie Maker and producing your story!

LGBT Veterans History Project
The San Diego LGBT Community Center Digital Media Project, the Library of Congress, and the Lambda Archives partner to document the stories of LGBT Veterans. We are looking for Veterans who want to share their stories as participants, and for volunteers to interview the Veterans. For more information, please contact us via email or at (619) 692-2077.
The Veterans History Project relies on volunteers to collect and preserve stories of wartime service. Each interview will be recorded by audio or video, and added to the official archives at the Library of Congress. These interviews become a permanent record of our nation’s history.
Our primary focus is on first-hand accounts of U.S. Veterans from 20th Century wars.
In addition, those U.S. citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts (such as war industry workers, USO workers, flight instructors, medical volunteers, etc.) are also invited to share their valuable stories.
