Our family, matters.

Family Matter's is San Diego's only educational and social parenting group for the LGBT community.

We began in 1995 after the joining of several smaller groups of gay and lesbian parents (Moms & Me and Dads Too, Considering Parenthood, and Dads in the Park) who had informally gathered over the years. May 1st of 2007 we merged with the San Diego LGBT Community Center with whom we had a great collaborative relationship for many years. Jane Schmoll is our Program Co-ordinator.

We offer you fun events for your family, social events for you to network with other parents or others that are considering parenthood. In addition, we provide educational Parenting Forums and numerous resources on legal and medical issues.

The Mission of Family Matters is to promote and sustain the well-being of families with one or more parent who is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered as well as those considering parenthood in Southern California.

We have an advisory council that meets regularly to help with programming and planning our educational and social events. Please contact Jane if you are interested in joining the Family Matters Advisory Council or volunteering.
