Walk in the Parade on Saturday!!!!
|
|
The Parade is on this Saturday, July 21 and starts at 11:00.
Please come and watch the parade or walk with other families with The LGBT Community Center's float.
The theme of our float is "There's No Place Like Home" so feel free to dress the kids as little munchkins! Won't they be cute!
Where & When to Meet the Float:
We are float #7 in the Parade and our staging area is on Centre Street near The Center and 7-11. Please arrive promptly at 10:30AM. Give yourselves plenty of time to find parking and to find our float with the LGBT Community Center. The Parade will kick off at 11:00AM sharp. You may want to take the shuttle bus from the Old Navy Hospital Parking Lot off of Park Blvd and President's way - this will drop you right at the Parade site or the Festival site- but allow yourself enough time because there can be a line, and we are in the very beginning of the Parade.
What to Wear:
Please wear your Family Matters t-shirt if you have one and shorts or something cool(no bathing suits or skimpy clothing), comfortable walking shoes & plenty of sunscreen. We will have bottled water on the float, but it will not be big enough for everyone to ride on so please be prepared to walk, ride, bike, scoot or stroller your way through the Parade and right into The Children's Garden for some R & R. The little "Munchkins" can wear shorts and high striped socks and carry a big lollipop and be part of the lollipop gang.
“No Gaps” Policy:
Pride is pretty serious about their “non gaps” policy this year—we need to stay in a tight, cohesive group or we could be pulled out of the parade! If you are a walker, a stroller-pusher or a banner/flag carrier—please stick with the float and do no venture far ahead or fall back too far.

Exciting Children's Garden!
|
|
Join us for a FULL weekend of FUN in our Children's Garden!
The Children's Garden will be open on Saturday from 12:00 - 6:00 pm, and on Sunday from 11:00 - 6:00 pm.
We will be located inside the Festival Grounds near the middle of the Festival on the left side in the Family Zone area, near the old fashioned cars. Look for our big banner and wind dancer.
We have LOTS of entertainment for you and your kids - from infants to pre-teen. We will have singers, dancers, clowns, magicians, face painters, karaoke, carnival games, ping pong, foosball, craft table and snacks - ALL FREE!
Plus to keep you and your kids comfortable all day we have a diaper changing station, a nap area, breast feeding tent, shade & snacks.
A big thank you to our generous sponsors: Wells Fargo, Imperial Court de San Diego, RJ Blake in memory of his father, The Dinner Afare, University Advisors, Family Matters and The Center.
Since safety is always a concern of all of us we are happy to tell you that we have Susanne Romo from Farmers Insurance to help get the kids enrolled in the "MILK " Program - Farmer's Insurance is one of the Corporate sponsors of the MILK program....Managing Information on Lost Kids.
We will fingerprint, weigh and measure the children at The Children's Garden. This is free, and the parents retain control of all the info and can be tied into the Amber Alert.
